Lil Durk’s brother DThang has reportedly been announced dead.As per TMZ, Cook County officials have confirmed that DThang, real name Dontay Banks Jr. was pronounced dead on the 7900 block of S. Loomis Boulevard in Chicago.According to reports, Dontay Banks Jr. was shot in the head outside of a nightclub and died on the spot, with a number of witnesses who saw the event.
Although Dontay was confirmed to be shot in the head and died on the spot, an autopsy for his body has not yet been completed. The tragic news comes in as another of Lil Durk’s inner circle to pass away, with King Von shot and killed last year.
Just last week, Pharrell Williams opened up on attending his cousin’s funeral, who was recently murdered by police in Virginia Beach.Williams said, “We had to bury my cousin on my birthday. It was bittersweet. The way he died was bitter. Where he is right now is sweet.”He continued, “As a Black person, when you’re born in this country, you immediately feel a much heavier gravity. The gravity is one that we see in our rules and regulations and laws. We see it in the lack of options. We see it in what we’re fed, what is marketed to us. We see it in broken educational systems.”
Williams added, “Knowing that if Donovan had been white he wouldn’t have gotten shot multiple times and left in the street for an inhumane amount of time, ’til the next morning, no gun in hand—that’s gravity. The race of the officer doesn’t pertain to the conversation, because if Donovan had been white they would have never shot him like that.”
