It is a rare phenomenon for a short six-track EP to stir intense feelings within due to its sheer crazy nature  The experience is even more extraordinary when you cannot stop listening.

This idea may even be the definition of a serious addiction, but despite all the potential life disintegration, it’s still worth it if you can indulge yourself in this release.

The debut EP from Maids is short, sharp, and sweet, but still provides the listener with everything they need to know about the group. From the opening number ‘Dr. Gecko’, it is apparent that Maids rock a little differently to most. The track is dirty and in your face, however the unique vocals of lead singers Sean Cook and Matt James lure you in and make you feel like a special guest at their musical feast.

The four friends from Newcastle, NSW definitely have their own sound, and it would be negligent to attempt to define exactly what that sound is, but somewhere within the rock genre has been especially reserved for the first single, ‘Mechanism’. It has gritty guitar riffs, reverberating vocals, and a chorus straight out of the punk era –  all with that special Maids twist.

It is a brave new world that Maids are trying to crack into with their unusual noise. Their sound is different and not even the slightest bit pretentious; maybe that’s what makes it such a good listen. Be ready for Maids.
