Another story to add to the truly WTF department comes news from Chicago USA, that a man has been convicted after he killed his mother during an argument that began after she refused to buy him tickets to an Avril Lavigne concert in 2008.

According the Fox New Chicago, Robert Lyons, a 39 year old who has a history of bipolar disorder, attacked his 61 year old mother in her home when she refused to call a friend and arrange tickets for Robert to the concert. Robert had only recently moved back in with his mother because he was unable to find a suitable place to live.

Robert hit his mother across the head twice with a bottle, she then fell to the floor where he proceeded to stab her nine times in the back in an attack described by prosecutors as so violent he snapped the blade off inside her body and then bent a second knife due to the force of the attack.

Afterwards he threw Drano and other cleaning chemicals on her body ‘to humiliate her’ and left to go shopping. According to Asst. State’s Atty. Jo Lindt he was arrested that night at Hooters.

“The defendant was angry at his mother and he killed her, plain and simple,” Lindt said. “Because she had the audacity to say no to him that day, because he wanted those concert tickets, he acted out on that anger.”

The jury found Robert guilty of second-degree murder as it was not premeditated. He’s due to be sentenced within the next few weeks, his conviction carries a prison term of between 4 to 20 years.
