Last year it was announced that the Michael Jackson estate and Columbia Live Stage were in the process of developing a musical based on the life of Jackson.
The project, titled Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough now has a premiere date. It will have its initial production in Chicago, from Oct. 29 to Dec. 1 at the James M. Nederlander Theater. Before making its way to Broadway in 2020.
The musical will focus on the lead-up to Jackson’s 1992 ‘Dangerous World Tour.’ Which saw Jackson perform to 3.5 million fans.

Two-time Pulitzer winner Lynn Nottage (Sweat, Ruined) will pen the book. Whilst Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon (An American In Paris) will take charge of direction and choreography.
The score will feature numerous, tracks from The King of Pop’s back-catalogue.
The controversial Michael Jackson documentary Leaving Neverland will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival tomorrow. The four-hour documentary investigates the allegations of sexual abuse made against Jackson.
The official Sundance description of the doc reads:
“Through gut-wrenching interviews with the now-adult men and their families, Leaving Neverland crafts a portrait of sustained exploitation and deception, documenting the power of celebrity that allowed a revered figure to infiltrate the lives of starstruck children and their parents.”
The estate of Michael Jackson has condemned the documentary, claiming it to be “another lurid production in an outrageous and pathetic attempt to exploit and cash in on Michael Jackson.”
