Every day we’re faced with an onslaught of album announcements so we thought we’d start sharing the soon-to-be-released love by putting together a list of the most notable and exciting album announcements on a weekly basis.

Four Tet
Beautiful Rewind

Four Tet is a busy guy. Along with doing remixes of most hit tracks and producing Omar Souleyman’s much anticipated new records he’s also been working on his own new album.

You can hear the first ‘single’ from the album, ‘Parallel Jalebi’ here.

All songs are produced by Kieran Hebden, and with him tweeting “no pre order, no youtube trailers, no itunes stream, no spotify, no amazon deal, no charts, no bit coin deal, no last minute rick rubin.” Music the way it should be!

Beautiful Way is out October 15th  2013 .

Fall Out Boy
Save Rock And Roll Pax AM Edition

Fall Out Boy are one of pop-punks greatest and long standing achievements. The band has managed to remain relevant on the brutal platform that is pop music for what is now a decade.

The quartet have squeezed into a minuscule studio on Sunset Boulevard named Pax Am and recorded an 8-track EP (produced by Ryan Adams) that will be added to Rock and Roll. The lads have quoted “sometimes to get where you are you need to get back to why you even began in the first place”.

Siingle ‘Love, Sex, Death’ demonstrates a surprising take of hardcore thrash likened to Bad Brains or Black Flag transcending the pop accessibility that is Fall Out Boy.

Save Rock And Roll is out October 18th  2013 .

The Necks
Open

The Necks are back with a one track album!

Described by the Los Angeles Times as “a magic act masquerading as a piano trio”, Open sees the legendary artists in-resonance return to the territory they are best known for – a single piece running for over an hour.

From the opening tones of Tony Buck’s monochord, it is immediately clear that this Necks album is something special.

As it unfolds, ethereal arco harmonies, minimalist funk, mesmeric piano riffs, subliminal pulses, twittering electronics, and even an arco bass choir are inducted into the process.

Open is out October 18th  2013 through Fish On Milk

Sally Seltmann
Untitled

A new record is due early next year from the iconic singer! While many details of the album remain secret, a single is due in November – taking form as ‘Needle In The Hay’; a delightfully fantastic, lost at sea adventure.

“I wanted you to hear this song first because it marks the beginning of a new journey,” Seltmann says. “It’s about losing yourself, following your heart, and above all – LOVE!”

Recorded by her husband Darren, a number of guest musicians feature on the track – including Bree van Reyk (Paul Kelly, Holly Throsby).

Seltmann’s new album is due in early 2014.

Velvet Underground
White Light/White Heat Reissue

The critically acclaimed and arguably greatest Velvet Underground record White Light/White Heat celebrates 45 years of bold influence and attempted emulation this year.

In celebrating just under half a century of experimental-proto-punk-avant-garde genius, Universal Music are releasing a unique 3-disc special reissue of the record, majorly remastered by founding fathers Lou Reed and John Cale.

Contents spanning across the three discs include remasters in mono and stereo as well as new material such as unreleased outtakes as well as alternative mixes of tracks.  The standout feature of the reissue is a live set never heard before recorded at New York’s Gymnasium early 1967.
