You might be getting sick of Jack White’s Guinness World records shenanigans (space vinyl! elitists! metpahors!), but he’s still a very busy boy musically.

His old-school vinyl label, Third Man Records, announced news today of a brand new Jack White-produced, 7” single from the genre-bending Beck.

The double A-side is the latest instalment of the label’s Blue Series, and includes the brand new tracks “I Just Started Hating Some People Today” with “Blue Randy” and will be released on 7” vinyl and digitally on May 28th.

The press release states, “both tracks were recorded in 2011 while Beck was in Nashville working on new material for his long awaited next album. The songs spontaneously came together at the Third Man studio on Beck’s final day in Nashville.”

The city’s country music history must have rubbed off on Beck, as the pair of tracks have a distinctly country twang to them. The liner notes also reveal that Jack White not only produced, but is also credited with guitar, drums and ‘punk vocal;’ while his (now ex-wife) Karon Elson contributes a ‘jazz vocal.’ Intriguing.

Could this be the taste of a new direction for Beck’s long-awaited follow-up to 2008’s Modern Guilt?
