A Washington Australian Tour 2013 has been announced, with the leading lady, Megan Washington, heading out for a series of intimate performances to showcase the new material she’s been working on in earnest over the last year or so.
Already announced as part of the mammoth lineup up for BIGSOUND Live as part of the Brisbane-based annual music industry conference, Washington have no confirmed additional theatre performances in Sydney and Melbourne for this September in what is a rare opportunity to witness one of Australia’s most engaging songwriters up close and personal.
An ARIA and APRA Award winner, Washington returns to the same intimate venues she first won over three years ago as part of the How To Tame Lions Tour that effectively launched her career back in 2010. The September shows will also see the first airing of Washington’s brand new band as well as material from her forthcoming album – which is receiving the finishing touches in London.
The 27-year-old songstress recently revealed that the long awaited follow-up to her 2010 debut, I Believe You Liar, was in the final stages of completion, while hoping to release a new single before the year is out, with her second studio album then due early next year.
Fans will get a chance to hear the new material, as well as selections from Washington’s award-winning songbook, this September at the Toff In Town in Melbourne, her showcase as part of BIGSOUND at Fortitude Valley venue, the Blackbear Lodge, and then at Sydney’s The Vanguard.
Tickets go on sale Friday 16th August and considering these are Washington’s first live dates in some time, tickets are expected to sell out. Mark your diaries.
