Is Splendour In The Grass selling fast or not? That’s the question many festival fans will be asking themselves, with the news in yesterday afternoon that the festival has sold out all its camping passes. Splendour allocates a significant portion of tickets to those who wish to take advantage of camping facilities, and yesterday they finally sold out, 19 days after originally going on sale in a process that was beset with hiccups.

Festival organisers Co-Producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco said in a statement yesterday “Whilst slower than past years, Event-Camping tickets have now officially sold out! Event-Only tickets are still available with offsite camping, check out your options on the Splendour website. We look forward to presenting a top notch show this year, thanks for your ongoing support.”

Usually all tickets to the festival have sold out by this point, so there has been much speculation as to whether it was the line up, the festival market reaching saturation point, the ever higher cost of a ticket, the problems with the initial ticket sales or even a tightening of the belts amongst the wider population that has led to this point.

The announcement that camping tickets have sold out is convenient, for this Thursday 26th May will mark the point at which the festival ticket re-sale facility kicks in. While this will be handy for fans who forked out in excess of $500 on the off chance that a mate might want to come along, it will be a highly useful for ticket scalpers or those that brought tickets believing that some of the headliners wouldn’t do sideshows in their city.
