Having witnessed the rapturous reception that Greens senator Scott Ludlam received when he made his debut as DJ S-Ludz around this time last year, Shadow Infrastructure Minister Anthony Albanese has decided to get behind the decks himself and drop some bangers for the people.
As Junkee reports, the one-time Labour leadership contender and noted music fan (the Shadow Infrastructure Minister previously did a guest spot hosting beloved music video staple Rage) is set to hit up the Bella Union in Carlton next Monday, 18th May to drop beats and tell it like it is.
Organisers are promising a night of “politics, drinks and song” in support of Albanese’s friend and comrade Andrew Giles, Member for Scullin. Tickets are going for $35 concession and $50 non-concession, with more details available via Facebook and the official Bella Union website.
It remains to be seen whether or not DJ Albo’s set will match the sheer dynamism that Sen Ludlam displayed when he hit up Perth’s Capitol last year for the “Ludapalooza” fundraiser, during which he got behind the decks and launched a hundred smartphones, with his set forever immortalised on YouTube.
Of course, regardless of just how well Albanese or Ludlam manage to spin, their skills will forever pale in comparison to Australian politics’ original DJ superstar, the one and only John Howard, whose mad skills you can check out in the timeless image below.
