The year 2015 has been a little touch and go for Aussie live music venues, sadly both Sydney, Adelaide and Perth all set to lose important performing spaces, and unfortunately this band news continues for the folk in the WA capital.
Treasured venue Devilles Pad has announced that it is closing down, the kooky performing space drawing its curtains for the final time in March this year, as Music Feeds reports.
The “Las Vegas In Hell” themed venue took to its Facebook in revealing that it was closing down, “We write with the sad news that Saturday 21st March will be the final night of trade for Devilles Pad” confirming that they’ll be going out with a bang, “As saddened as we are that the doors of Hell are closing, in true Deville’s style we plan on going out with GUNS BLAZIN!”
No reason has been provided as to why Deville’s is shutting up shop, and the news has certainly broke copious amounts Perth hearts, with their Facebook post receiving hundreds of shares and even more devastated comments.
It’s business as usual until the big closure date of Saturday 21st March, the establishment urging all to take a look at the rescheduled gig dates, whilst encouraging musicians to perform and for any punter to come along and have one last boogie.
Although this certainly puts a puncture in Perth’s live music scene, Australia at large has had some victories this year insofar. Geelong has secured a brand-spanking new performance space, Melbourne scored a live music venue that specialises in dumplings, not to mention Little & Olver and 24 Moons, whilst Brisbane has seen The Brooklyn Standard and Sonny’s House of Blues.
