Kate have become one of Australia’s most successful and respected bands. They have released six top ten albums, a double album of B-sides, a Best-of album, a DVD, a live album, a video collection, three E.P’s, and 24 singles. They have sold over half a million records and amassed a staggering 16 Australian Record Industry Awards nominations (ARIAS).
In May of 2012 the band wrote their sixth album, recorded with producer, John Congleton (St Vincent, The Walkmen, Explosions in the Sky) in Dallas, Texas. The album, Leave Your Soul to Science was raw, adventurous and very beautiful; the band’s most accomplished work to date and Dempsey’s most incisive and poignant lyrical work yet. Leave Your Soul to Science debuted at Number 1 on the Australian ARIA chart and number 5 on the International ARIA chart.
After multiple sold out national tours and festivals touring Leave Your Soul to Science, in 2014 Something for Kate celebrate 20 Years. It’s been 20 Years since the bands first show at Melbourne’s Punters Club in 1994. In celebration of this, Something for Kate embarked on their biggest tour to date in July 2014, playing sold out show across the country.
