If you’re someone who likes their music flavoured with the alt-rock taste we all love so much, then you might want to enrich your life by checking out All The Colours’ new single, ‘Waste’.

For those with their ears to the ground, Melbourne’s All The Colours might be one name you’ve been hearing for some time now. Self-described as “music your kids will thank you for”, the trio have been writing and recording for most of the last decade, sharing their self-titled debut album back in 2014.

While Vol. 2 followed in 2015, the ensuing years have been mostly populated with standalone singles and the question of when a new full-length would be on the way.

Now, with latest single ‘Trigger’ arriving back in November, 2020 is set to belong to All The Colours, with the group sharing their latest single, ‘Waste’, as a new taster from their forthcoming record.

Produced by Chris Taylor (Grizzly Bear, Dirty Projectors) and mixed by longtime collaborator Cian Riordan (Mini Mansions, Beth Ditto), All The Colours composed the tracks for Vol. 3 during a number of sessions across Los Angeles, allowing their music to be filtered through the vibe of the iconic city.

“The music was an expression of our love for ’90s alt-rock,” explained bassist, keyboardist, and vocalist Josh Moriarty. “We dived deep into the riff pool and came up with as many variations as possible, trying to find something fresh.”

New single ‘Waste’ sees the group at their powerful best, serving up a slow-burning number which crashed into a chorus reminiscent of ’90s icons like Weezer of contemporary Aussie outfits such as Kingswood.

“‘Waste’ is a teenage love story,” Moriarty explained. “It’s an ode to the melancholic feelings and desires I remember having at that time in my life and the fantasies I concocted.

“Being in my 30s now, I have a much stronger sense of songwriting and melody, and an ability to capture the essence of those emotions.”

While All The Colours might not quite be the household name they deserve to be, you can be sure with tracks like ‘Waste’ at their disposal, it won’t be long before they’re cited as one of Australia’s greatest musical exports in no time.

‘Waste’ is officially released on Friday, February 14th, with Vol. 3 following the week after. If you’re liking what you’re hearing, All The Colours are set to play a pair of shows in Melbourne and Sydney in the coming weeks, with details available below.
