Scottish native Frankie Duffy, formally of band Rising signs, has accused Nick Cave and his travelling band of apocalyptic gypsies from hell of plagiarism after he noticed similarities between his song ‘Grey Man,’ and Grinderman song Palaces of Montezuma’ which appears on ‘Grinderman 2.’

At a recent gig in London, Cave introduced aforementioned song hitting back at Duffy, saying “You may have read that some 17-year-old kid in Dundee is trying to sue me and is claiming to have written this song. That’s funny, because I wrote it for my wife.” Zing!

Speaking to Scottish newspaper The Courier, Duffy’s ridiculous accusations continued “I sat down with my guitar and played along with it and it’s exactly the same A, E and B chords, which to be fair anybody could use to write a song at any time.” Didn’t he just answer his own argument?

Despite the fact that the chords are universally used in many pop/rock songs, Duffy says he’s still thinking of suing, adding “I can’t help thinking that Nick Cave was sitting in his house one night and decided to surf some unsigned bands and saw our site, saw we were split up and thought, ‘I’ll have that track, nobody will ever know.” Just imagine the money Cave could stand to make if he sued everyone who formed a band after listening to The Birthday Party and Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds.
