Sinéad O’Connor is set to release her memoir, Rememberings, on June 1st.

Ahead of the release of Rememberings, the controversial pop star sat down with New York Times in an interview that delved into some of the confessions from the book, including a story about Prince that she promised to explore way back in 2013. “We didn’t like each other,” she said at the time. “It got violent too. I’ll tell it when I’m an old lady and I write my book.”

So it goes, after her cover of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ catapulted Sinéad O’Connor to the highest echelons of public conciousness, Prince invited her to his Hollywood mansion.

During her visit, The High Priest of Pop reportedly: “chastised her for swearing in interviews, harangued his butler to serve her soup though she repeatedly refused it, and sweetly suggested a pillow fight, only to thump her with something hard he’d slipped into his pillowcase.”

O’Connor details that after she left the mansion, Prince “stalked her with his car, leapt out and chased her around the highway.”

The Times feature explores O’Connor’s experience with being categorized as crazy by the media, after ripping up the photo of Pope John Paul II on Saturday Night Live, and refusing to play ‘The Star Spangled Banner, “It was open season on treating me like a crazy bitch,” she recalls.

She went on to muse that Prince was the type of artist who’s craziness was celebrated, “You’ve got to be crazy to be a musician,” O’Connor said, “but there’s a difference between being crazy and being a violent abuser of women.”
