The Smashing Pumpkins have pulled off one of the strangest onstage collaborations of 2018, covering a Fleetwood Mac classic with none other than Hanson.
Currently out on tour in the US, the Smashing Pumpkins have been hitting up venues to deliver a mix of their new album, and the 30-year career that they’ve left behind them.
However, it seems that the group have been enjoying adding a bit of local flavour into their live shows, inviting hometown musicians onstage to perform a special cover.
Just days ago, we saw the Smashing Pumpkins hit up their hometown of Chicago, where they brought out Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath to cover The Cars’ ‘Dangerous Type’. Needless to say, it was one collaboration we thought we’d never see, but now, they’ve done it all again.

Hitting up Oklahoma’s Brady Theatre on Sunday night, Billy Corgan welcomed a trio of local musicians to the stage, before telling guitarist James Iha the story of how this collab came to be.
“As you were driving in your limousine today, you saw these handsome kids busking on the corner and you said, ‘Hey kids, come out and play this Fleetwood Mac classic with us tonight’,” Corgan explained, before Iha added, “Let’s welcome to the stage, Tulsa’s own Hanson.”
What followed was a rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s classic ‘Landslide’, which featured Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson lead vocals. While the Smashing Pumpkins famously covered this track back in 1994, this is first time that their audiences treated to a poppier take on the track.
Elsewhere in the set, the Smashing Pumpkins also brought some more guest to the stage, welcoming Tyson Meade and Trent Bell from the Chainsaw Kittens to cover David Bowie’s ‘Suffragette City’.
In related news, Hanson are set to hit up Australia in 2019 as part of their String Theory tour, which will also include two performances for the Melbourne Zoo Twilights series.
