Tekashi 6ix9ine has taken a breather from accusing Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber of chart fraud to announce new music. ‘Gooba’, the rapper’s first single since getting out of prison in April, came out on May 8.

Three weeks after dropping his almost-chart-topping single ‘Gooba’, 6ix9ine will drop another new track. 6ix9ine – real name Daniel Hernandez – made the announcement on Instagram. “Next video will break the internet,” he wrote in an all-caps post. “[I’m] pushing it back till next Friday May 29th.”

‘Gooba’ has been an enormously successful comeback release for the New York rapper. Released on his 24th birthday, the song stacked up 40 million views in its first 24 hours on YouTube. In doing so, 6ix9ine overtook Eminem’s ‘Killshot’ to claim the largest ever opening tally for a hip-hop video on YouTube.

The track also very nearly topped the US Billboard Hot 100, but ultimately landed at number three. It placed behind Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber’s charity single ‘Stuck With U’ and Doja Cat’s ‘Say So’ remix featuring Nicki Minaj. To say 6ix9ine was a little upset by this outcome would be a grand understatement.

He took to Instagram to accuse Billboard and Grande of corruption. “I’ll be real disappointed if Billboard gets paid for number ones,” he said. 6ix9ine posted another video a couple of days later, declaring that 30,000 copies of the Grande/Bieber single were purchased using six credit cards.

Billboard responded with an article titled “How Billboard Came to Its Calculations in This Week’s Race For the Hot 100 No. 1,” which sought to debunk 6ix9ine’s claims. Grande and Bieber also responded, with Grande taking umbrage at 6ix9ine’s failure to mention Bieber in any of his posts.

“To anybody that is displeased with their placement on the chart this week or who is spending their time racking their brain thinking of as many ways as they can to discredit hardworking women (and only the women for some reason…..), i ask u to take a moment to humble yourself,” she wrote.
