As usual, it’s been a pretty big week for music on triple j, with some of the finest local and international acts getting some pretty solid airplay. But just what were listeners loving the most this week? What were the tunes that dominated the airwaves, and who were the artists that now have heaps of new fans after plenty of exposure on triple j?
Well, thanks to our friends over at J Play, we’ve put together this article to make sure you don’t have to worry about not knowing who the most popular artists on triple j are each week any more.

20. Parcels
Parcels first blew up thanks to a breakthrough single that was produced by Daft Punk. Now, having dropped their debut record and nabbing Milla Jovovich to collaborate on the music video for ‘Withorwithout’, their single ‘lightenup’ has managed to become this week’s 16th most-played track.
19. San Cisco
San Cisco are currently nearing the end of a huge tour with Ball Park Music and Ruby Fields, so they decided to give fans a little something extra to scream out from the crowd. Titled ‘When I Dream’, this single is on track to be a big one, currently serving as this week’s eleventh most-played tune.
18. The Beths
The Beths are undoubtedly one of the hottest indie-rock groups to come out of New Zealand recently, with their debut, Future Me Hates Me, scoring a majorly positive review from indie tastemakers Pitchfork. With ‘You Wouldn’t Like Me’ currently this week’s 20th most-played track, you can expect to hear more from these awesome musos in the future..
17. SAFIA
SAFIA recently dropped their new single, ‘Starlight’, and fans have been loving it. This week’s ninth most-played track, it’s ostensibly the first taste of a new album, and we’re eager to hear plenty more from these awesome musicians.
16. Stand Atlantic
Sydney trio Stand Atlantic have been ticking all the boxes lately, releasing brilliant pop-punk tunes that have been resonating with their rapidly-growing fanbase. With their single ‘Lavender Bones’ serving as this week’s 14th most-played track, you can be sure you’ll be hearing plenty more from these folks in the future.

15. Holy Holy
Acclaimed duo Holy Holy recently returned with their new single ‘Faces’, and triple j listeners are being reminded of why they love these two so much. With a new tour on the way next month, ‘Faces’ is this week’s eighth most-played track, and we’re bound to be hearing plenty more of it.
14. Middle Kids
Middle Kids are still riding high off the success of their debut album, Lost Friends, earlier this year. With plenty of their tunes still doing the rounds on the triple j airwaves this week, listeners have sure been spoiled when it comes to receiving great tunes from these Sydney musos.
13. Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey has revealed she’s got a new album coming next year, and she’s already teasing us with new singles. Titled Norman Fucking Rockwell, her sixth album is set to contain tracks like ‘Venice Bitch’, but it’s ‘Mariners Apartment Complex’ currently winning fans over, serving as this week’s seventh most-played track.
12. Wafia
Everything we’ve ever heard from Wafia has turned out to be a piece of pure perfection, and her latest track is no exception. Titled ‘I’m Good’, it’s not only the sixth most-played track on triple j this week, but another sign of the brilliance still to come from this stunning muso.
11. Methyl Ethel
Methyl Ethel had a pretty stellar 2017, having scored the #4 on the Hottest 100, and receiving plenty of acclaim for the brilliance of their record, Everything Is Forgotten. Now, with the group back on the airwaves thanks to brilliant tracks like ‘Scream Whole’, they’ve currently got the fifth most-played track for this week.
10. Skegss
Skegss released their long-awaited debut record My Own Mess recently, with triple j giving it the feature album treatment as well. Understandably, fans have been loving this absolute belter of a release, as tracks ‘Smogged Out’ and ‘Stop’ have been scoring endless amounts of love from their dedicated fan, with the latter serving as this week’s tenth most-played track.
9. Thundamentals
Just a year after the release of Everyone We Know, Thundamentals are back with their latest record, I Love Songs. An album of love songs above all else, this record sees the group showing off their softer side, while never straying away from that stunning ability to captivate listeners at every turn. With ‘Everybody But You’ currently this week’s 18th most-played track, we reckon this album might end up on a few mixtapes for people’s crushes.
8. Tkay Maidza
Tkay Maidza has had a pretty wild few months, with the release of her latest EP, Last Year Was Weird Vol. 1. Now, this Adelaide muso has been kicking goals all over the place, scoring copious amounts of airplay thanks to tracks like ‘Flexin”. Easily one of the most exciting Aussie artists at the moments, we’re always keen to hear more from Tkay!
7. Anderson .Paak
Anderson .Paak has well and truly been delivering the goods this year. With his track ‘Bubblin” doing the rounds recently, he just dropped the Kendrick Lamar collab ‘Tints’, which is currently all over the airwaves. Another taste of Anderson .Paak’s upcoming album Oxnard, ‘Tints’ is the third most-played track this week, and with good reason!
6. Cub Sport
It feels like Cub Sport have hardly had anytime to put their feet up over the last year, but already these Brisbane musos are set to release a new album. With lead single ‘Sometimes’ the second most-played track this week, we’re eager as anything for 2019 to bring with it a new Cub Sport record.
5. Matt Corby
Matt Corby has been dropping singles left and right in anticipation of his new record, Rainbow Valley. Having released ‘No Ordinary Life’ recently, his latest track, ‘All That I See’, is currently the fourth most-played track on the airwaves this week. Keep an eye out, because this one will be hanging around for a while.
4. Miguel
It’s almost been a year since Miguel released his latest album, War & Leisure, but fans still can’t get enough of this brilliant musician. With a Like A Version performance under his belt, and a Live At The Wireless set hitting the airwaves recently, you can be sure you’ll be hearing plenty more of Miguel in the future.
3. Eves Karydas
Eves Karydas has been on the scene for a number of years now, and has been delivering the goods ever since she first the airwaves. With singles like ‘Couch’ doing the rounds recently, she’s just announced her debut album, summerskin. While ‘Damn Loyal’ is scoring enough airplay to become the most-played track this week, this is definitely not the last you’ve heard of Eves Karydas.
2. BROCKHAMPTON
BROCKHAMPTON released their new album, Iridescence, just a while back, and it’s an absolute belter. With the group having just wrapped up an Aussie tour with a stunning Like A Version performance, listeners have been loving the vast amount of brilliant tunes this stunning collective have been offering up. Needless to say, there’s a good chance BROCKHAMPTON will be remaining one of the most vital hip-hop groups for quite some time.
1. Hands Like Houses
Hands Like Houses recently dropped their latest record, Anon., and fans have been absolutely loving it. The group’s fourth album, Anon. was recently given the triple j Feature Album treatment as well, with listeners being given the chance to hear plenty of Hands Like Houses’ amazing tunes. With tracks like ‘Monster’ scoring plenty of love, this won’t be the last you’ve heard of Hands Like Houses.
