Fresh off an absolutely powerhouse performance at Splendour In The Grass, Urthboy isn’t wasting any time in capitalising on the wave of momentum he’s riding, unveiling new single ‘The Arrow’ featuring good pal Timberwolf.
‘The Arrow’ is a deeply autobiographical song that chronicles “the ups and downs of Elefant Traks“, Australia’s premiere hip-hop label, which Urthboy helped co-found and which has helped foster talent like Horrorshow, L-FRESH THE LION, and more.
In fact, the line “where does my arrow land” was used during a business meeting in which a colleague used it to describe a campaign strategy. The campaign never eventuated, and the line took on its own, newfound poetic life.
Further, the track is also about finding a sense of purpose in the world, even when you feel the odds before you, with lyrics like, “Every now and then / The walls are closing in / My arms stretched either side / Who knows where it may end“.
The track features production by Nic Martin and Styalz Fuego and the music video was animated by Dominic Aldis, a longtime fan of Urthboy’s, who contacted the rapper earlier this year to show his interest in a collaboration.
