Melbourne dark-pop four-piece Lowlakes recently gave us the first taste off their debut LP Iceberg Nerves due for release in early 2014.
The first single ‘Newborn’ and the rest of the album was produced by Kunsthaus Records’ Manfred Kaindel. ‘Newborn’ is a trip-inducing call to introspection; layered with a late-night atmospheric intensity Lowlakes is best regarded for and punctuated by lead singer Tom Snowdon’s mesmerising croon. In the vein of Massive Attack, Depeche-Mode and Fever Ray it’s an otherworldly experience, and a taste of the deep sonic explorations.
‘Newborn’ is cast against a darker backdrop than Lowlakes’ acclaimed self-titled 2012 EP, which won them strong support on the US college radio scene and live appearances in the USA and across Europe.
To help celebrate the release of ‘Newborn’ Lowlakes have hit the road already wowing audiences in Adelaide, their next stops are Melbourne, Sydney, Wollongong and Canberra before taking off to Europe to support Half Moon Run on some shows.
Saturday 12th Oct @ The Gasometer, Melbourne (VIC)
Thursday 17th Oct @ Oxford Arts Factory, Sydney (NSW)
Friday 18th Oct @ Yours & Owls, Wollongong (NSW)
Saturday 19th Oct @ Smith’s Alternative Bookshop, Canberra (ACT)
Thanks to Lowlakes and Kunsthaus Records we have a double pass to give away to the bands Melbourne, Sydney and Wollongong shows.
