There are some songs that can only be listened to at night, and some that are perfect for the early morning. In this article, I will be using my PhD on the matter of night driving to help you feel cool as hell on your next midnight cruise.

Windows down and the streetlights on, it’s just you and your car cruising down the empty streets. You know the feeling, it’s one of the greatest known pleasures to humankind and is the only reason that everyone should get their license ASAP.

Now, of course, there are a plethora of night driving songs, so don’t complain if your fave didn’t make the list – I mean, my night driving playlist has about 250 songs on it – there just isn’t room for every song ever. I tried to mix up genres and make it absolutely perfect in representing the different kinds of midnight driving tunes.

Here is the list without further ado. Drive safe night riders. 😜

1. ‘Perfect’ by Cousin Stizz

Look, sometimes when we are driving at ungodly times of the night, it’s because we’re going somewhere ungodly, and just straight up sinning. This song is nighttime sin encapsulated perfectly, no pun intended. Godspeed you, sinful drivers.

2. ‘The Glitzy Hive’ by Neon Indian

Neon Indian is perfect for pretending you’re cruising down a street littered with neon lights. ‘The Glitzy Hive’ is the pinnacle of groovy and the apex of funk, it’s just pure joy wrapped into one little package.

3. ‘Better Off Alone’ by Alice DJ

A classic that will never die. Also good for shouting out the lyrics to, since there are so few. You can also catch this legend at So Pop 2020, so see you there popaholics.

4. ‘Give It All You Got’ by Kim Ann Foxman

The night doesn’t own you, you own the night. No song can honestly make you feel like more of a cybernetic hottie from the future than this one.

5. ‘Elegance’ by Kilo Kish

Some say Kilo Kish invented night music with her EP Mothe. Those people would be absolutely correct.

6. ‘Feelings’ by Tinashe

Look, although Tinashe has an entire album called Nightride, I just couldn’t resist but put this sauntering R&B banger on the list. To be fair, the whole list could belong to Tinashe, she is quite realistically the progenitor of night music.

7. ‘Reminders’ by Mariah the Scientist

Ever wanted to cruise down the streets like you’ve just murdered your eleventh husband in his mansion? No? Okay maybe that’s just me, but this song captures that mood entirely.

8. ‘The Hills’ by The Weeknd

Say what you want, the song slaps.

9. ‘Physical’ by Dula Peep

Dua Lipa, or Dula Peep, released this absolute gem of a night-drive track and you’ve just gotta respect the power this song has when the sun sets. Transformative.

 10. ‘Oblivion’ by Grimes

Look, I was going to put ‘Drive’ by The Cars but that song makes me cry and that is definitely not what we need for night vibes. What better way to keep the dark vibes alive than the perfecter of modern electronica, Grimace herself.
