A James Vincent McMorrow Australian Tour 2014 has been announced.
Following being announced as part of the Vivid LIVE 2014 lineup this morning, promoters Secret Sounds have confirmed that the Irish singer-songwriter will be playing a series of headline shows to accompany his performance at Sydney Opera House this May.
Last in Australia over the New Year’s for his much talked about appearances at the Falls and Southbound Festivals, James Vincent McMorrow’s return Australian dates will be his first since officially releasing his sophomore album Post Tropical. The ambient singer-songwriter will be warmed up for his Aussie dates, following a current US tour and a string of sold shows and a spot on Aprils’ Coachella 2014 lineup.
The news is particularly sweet for fans in Brisbane, with the tour marking McMorrow’s first visit to the Sunshine State since releasing acclaimed debut album Early In The Morning in 2012.
Following on from Post Tropical appetiser ‘Cavalier’, new single ‘Gold’ further solidifies the unrelenting strength of the songsmith’s sophomore effort. McMorrow has also revealed a new video for album track ‘Red Dust’ – the second of a trilogy of short films by acclaimed director Aoife Mcardle (Beck, Jon Hopkins, Anna Calvi). Watch it below.
James Vincent McMorrow was also heavily rumoured to be part of the Splendour In the Grass 2014 lineup after hinting at a return Down Under following his Falls/Southbound shows earlier this year. His Australian tour this May could discount him for another return appearance for the Byron Bay music festival, but time will tell.
