Australia is being gifted with a brand new music event, billed as the country’s “first ever neo-soul, jazz and hip hop festival”, launching this October.
Introducing Soulfest, which has announced its inaugural lineup, dates, and ticket details. Soulfest will bring a lineup rich in international soul and hip hop artists performing over two stages to Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
The Soulfest 2014 lineup will see the Australian return of hip hop majors like Mos Def, Common, and soul maverick Aloe Blacc. The new music festival will also mark the Australian debut of the likes of American soulsmith Maxwell, RnB veteran D’Angelo, Southern soul crooner Anthony Hamilton, plus US singer-songwriters Angie Stone, Leela James, and Musiq Souldchild.
Also on the first Soulfest 2014 bill, which will feature a total of over 20 live acts and DJs, will be a collection of Australian talent – including Ngaiire, Nathaniel, Ms Murphy, Miracle and DJ Trey.
Festival organisers, International Entertainment Group and Ginnen Group, are also promising that the dual stage setup will mean “no scheduling conflicts” as artists perform for 10 hours across a single day. There will also be a different approach to festival food in ‘Eat Street’, a food hub offering a range of New Orleans Soulfood, pop-eateries, and an American-style Chili Cook-off, as well as themed bars for a variety of beer and wine selections.
Early bird ticket registrations begin today (Monday 31st March) at the official Soulfest website, allowing access to a pre-sale commencing Monday 7th April ahead of general tickets going on sale Tuesday 15th April. VIP Tickets are also available, offering exclusive front of stage access and viewing, as well as a VIP bard, food, and toilets.
