The Preatures Australian Tour 2014 has been announced as the breakout Sydney five-piece return to the country with material from their forthcoming debut album in tow.

The Preatures have started this year well and truly hitting the ground running, having already notched up buzz-worthy attention from stellar performances at SXSW, the famed Coachella Festival and completed a headline European/UK tour including sold-out London shows in London, Berlin and Paris.

The Preatures have now returned to Australia to launch their brand new single ‘Two Tone Melody’, out today. The track was produced by guitarist Jack Moffitt and Spoon co-founder and producer Jim Eno, before being mixed by Moffitt at the Preatures’ own Doldrums studio in Sydney.

Speaking to Tone Deaf in a soon-to-be-published interview, frontwoman Isabella Manfredi reveals she wrote part of the song at the house of Simon Day from vintage Aussie indie band Ratcat.

“He’s been a really good friend to us and I was at his house and we were writing a song, like a punk song about deadlines,” Manfredi details. “We were just hanging out and I went to the bathroom and the song just popped into my head. It was completely different from what we were working on but it was just there. I just put it on my [iPhone] voice memo so, thank you Apple,” she jokes.

“It’s a song about high expectations, [but] for me it’s a love song I guess.”

It’s also the first taste of the band’s forthcoming debut album, which follows on from the Is This How You Feel? EP and the huge success of its titular single, which yesterday was nominated as a finalist in the prestigious APRA Song of the Year Award.

The band will head back to the US next week for MS/MR tour dates, Bonnaroo and UK/Europe for Glastonbury, Hurricane and Southside performances. They will then head back to our shores to perform at Splendour In The Grass as well as a bunch of shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Byron Bay, Adelaide & Perth in July and early August. Tickets go on sale today.

The ‘Two Tone Melody’ single tour starts in mid-July, and will be the band’s first Australian tour for this year. Joining as special guests will be Adelaide rock knockabouts Bad//Dreems, “a really good band and really cool guys,” says Manfredi, and “one of our favourite Perth bands”, Gunns. “I’m just really looking forward and excited to play in Australia again. We’ve being doing so many overseas shows.”

Be sure to catch The Preatures as they showcase ‘Two Tone Meldoy’ across the country, as well as new material from their much anticipated debut album and their fan favourites of the last 12 months.
