Something For Kate has announced a ‘secret’ warm up gig in their hometown of Melbourne, before embarking on their 20th Anniversary Tour.
The band teased the warm up show to their social media followers late on Friday with a post that had naught but a moniker, ‘Max Planck and the Survival Experts’, and a date: Wednesday 2nd July.
Something For Kate have now confirmed that they’ll be performing at The Prince in St Kilda, taking the stage at 8pm for a full headline set under the alias of ‘Max Planck and the Survival Experts’. As Something For Kate diehards will already know, the band have used a number of pseudonyms over the years, revealing in our Tone Deaf Cover Story that their favourite was “Three Eggs, One Omelette”.

Tickets for the Prince show are $25, but there will be no pre-sales, with passes only available on the door of the St Kilda venue on the night, so make sure you get down to The Prince to avoid disappointment.
The first 200 paying patrons will also receive a never before released four track CD to honour their fandom. Namely the band’s 2007 ‘California’ sampler, which contains a rare remix, B side, and Something For Kate’s cover of The Clash’s ‘Rock The Casbah’
The ‘Max Planck & The Survival Experts’ warm-up show takes place two days before Something For Kate set out on a national tour celebrating their 20 year existence, playing career-spanning setlists in venues across Australia in July and August.
The commencement of the band’s tour also coincides with the reissue of Something For Kate’s six album discography on special edition Deluxe CD – complete with a bonus disc full of B sides, rarities, and live recordings – as well as limited edition vinyl, with each album in the band’s discography having been out of print since their initial release (while 2006′s Desert Lights was never issued on wax to begin with). The band have also released Paper Trail, a book that visually chronicles SFK’s two decade long career.
