Sydney’s Unity Floors and Melbourne’s Chook Race are interstate band mates, who have just teamed up to produce the CHEAP SPLIT 7″ out August 28th via ‘econo-DIY’ label Mystic Olympic. Not too certian what econo-DIY means, but listening to this combo we like what Mystic Olympic are doing.

Unity Floors‘ track ‘Hold Music’ was recorded in vocalist/ guitarist Gus Hunt’s suburban Sydney lounge room, it’s messy and lo-fi, but that’s exactly what fans have come to love and expect from the duo since the release of last year’s Exotic Goldfish Blues LP.

Chook Race‘s ‘Numb’ the first we’ve heard from the trio since last year’s Powernap tape. Sung by the band’s drummer Carolyn, ‘Numb’ is about “having a crush on someone so bad that your brain begins to shut down and you fail to keep functioning normally.” Recorded by Tom Hardisty (Woollen Kits, Nun) it’s just enough Chook Race to keep us going before the release of their debut LP About Time.

The bands will be playing shows in both Sydney and Melbourne alongside killer garage pop acts Tam Vantage, Old Mate, and Community Radio.
