Music fans Australia wide, it is time to rejoice once again. After much eager anticipation and the announcement of one massive headliner, the organisers of Vivid Sydney have finally announced their full lineup for Vivid LIVE 2015, featuring Sufjan Stevens, Daniel Johns, Flume, and more.

As Tone Deaf reported last month, this year’s festival of lights will see an indie icon and former frontman of UK legends The Smiths topping the bill. Yes, the one and only Morrissey will be bringing his unmistakable croon and timeless discography to the Sydney Opera House.

Joining the outspoken Mancunian will be eccentric, eclectic, and prolific singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens. The indie-folk vanguard will be bringing songs from his highly anticipated new album, Carrie & Lowell, inspired by the songwriter’s late mother, to Vivid LIVE.

Punters can also look forward to an appearance from Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns. The Australian music legend will be playing tunes for his critically acclaimed new solo effort, Aerial Love, a unique electronic work packed with soulful, confessional tunes, and a total departure from Silverchair. These will be his first solo live shows.

Meanwhile, the golden boy of the Australian EDM scene, Flume will be playing his only Australian show of 2015 as part of a special event celebrating 10 Years of Future Classic. Fans will be able to celebrate the Sydney label that redefined ‘the Australian sound’ with Flume, Flight Facilities, Seekae, Hayden James, and more.

Also on the lineup are Brooklyn boundary-pushers TV On the Radio, electronic whiz Squarepusher, underground veteran Bill Callahan, homegrown favourites The Drones, swiftly rising rockers The Preatures, and the dynamism and excitement of Melbourne Ska Orchestra.

“This year is a celebration of unique individuals’ voices: from Morrissey and Daniel Johns, to Sufjan Stevens and Bill Callahan, Flume and Squarepusher,” said Ben Marshall, curator of Vivid LIVE.

“These voices represent idiosyncratic and personalised views of life, often solitary, poetic and unexpected, but capable of providing an entire way of seeing the world and drawing their devoted audiences together, as do searing bands like TV on the Radio and The Drones.”

Of course, this is just the lineup set to hit the Sydney Opera House. Vivid Sydney’s 2015 music programme will also feature plenty of attractions set to take place in iconic venues and unique spaces around the city, so head to the official Vivid LIVE website for this year’s full program.
