Rapper Jay Electronica has reportedly cancelled his forthcoming Australian tour, including a scheduled appearance at Splendour In The Grass 2015 and headline dates in Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney. According to Live Nation, the rapper cited “unforeseen circumstances”.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Jay Electronica has cancelled his Australian tour,” a statement reads. “Ticket holders for Jay’s headline shows in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney will be contacted by the relevant ticketing outlet to advise of the process for obtaining a refund.”

“Jay Electronica, Niche Productions and Live Nation apologize for any disappointment,” they conclude. It’s not yet known if Splendour organisers will be announcing a replacement for the rapper, whose real name is Timothy Elpadaro Thedford.

While Thedford is still yet to release a full-length album, he has become one of the hottest properties on the modern hip-hop scene, having collaborated with the likes of Common, Mos Def, and J. Cole, as well as releasing the infamous single ‘Control’.

Electronica was slated to appear as part of Splendour In The Grass’ stacked 2015 lineup, which also features Blur, Florence & The Machine, Mark Ronson, Of Monsters & Men, The Wombats, Tame Impala, Boy & Bear, Flight Facilities, and Peking Duk.
