Despite a push to see homegrown entertainment make the lineup for the Grand Final pre-match entertainment lineup earlier this year, the AFL have now confirmed the three international acts who will headline the 2015 Toyota AFL Grand Final entertainment at the MCG on Saturday, 3rd October.

The 2015 Virgin Australia Pre-Game Show at the Toyota AFL Grand Final will be headlined by Bryan Adams and Ellie Goulding, with a performance from Chris Isaak.

In other words, your mum’s record collection will come to life and take the stage during the biggest date on the footy calendar.

According to a press release, Adams and Goulding are set to perform a number of iconic hits in the lead-up to the biggest match of the year, with Adams heading Down Under specifically to perform at the Grand Final. “I’m pleased to be a part of it,” he said.

In addition to the 100,000 fans who will attend the big game at the MCG, fans without Grand Final event tickets will have the chance to enjoy a free encore performance at the G immediately following the game as part of the Virgin Australia Premiership Party.

First introduced back in 2012, the special fan event sees the MCG open its gates to the public for a free encore performance by the Grand Final entertainers followed by the presentation of the 2015 AFL Premiers to fans for the very first time.

Taking to Facebook, Rock The Granny, who launched the campaign to see more local alternative bands make the Grand Final entertainment lineup, criticised the decision to omit any Australian acts from this year’s entertainment roster.

“Really AFL? This sounds like a bad joke… A Canadian, an American and a Brit? (All who have probably never watched an AFL game in their life),” the group wrote. “What happened to this being Australia’s game?”
