Back in March, we wrote about an incident that went down during a Sticky Fingers performance at the Enmore Theatre. Long story short: the cops arrived and hijinks ensued. It’s really just par for course for a Sticky Fingers gig, right?

Well, yes and no. Speaking recently to The Interns, the band admitted that their backstage goings-on are certainly Motley Crue-esque, but they rarely involve police officers and mostly have to do with getting into trouble with other bands.

“I’m sure we have plenty, I’m just trying to think of one that doesn’t get us in trouble,” said bassist and vocalist Paddy Fingers when prompted for a backstage tale. “I can’t really think of any that doesn’t get us in trouble.”

“Wait, I’ve got one actually, a recent one,” Fingers continued. “So, at Groovin’ The Moo, which was what made it really hard not to drink, was that we had so many friends bands playing as well. Such as like, the One Day guys, DMA’s, The Delta Riggs.”

“So a friend of ours that was booking the festival and knew we were all friends and so he made the mistake of putting us all next to each other backstage.” You can see how this one might turn out, but keep reading, there’s a cameo from another band.

“So the green room was set up so it was like tents, separated by a sheet, and every day at the end of the day we would pull down the sheets and just make this massive green room,” Fingers recounted.

“So, there’s a band from London called Peace, and they were sort of sick of fucking us around so they did the signature Sticky move and just grabbed the fire extinguisher and blasted everyone, which everyone found really funny, except the One Day guys.”

“They didn’t find it so funny, you know, because the whole rap and hip-hop game is kind of different from rock and roll. Rock and roll is kind of a bit more debaucherous, but in hip-hop and rap I feel like you’ve gotta look dope.”

“You gotta look dope, and no one can fuck with you. So they gotta put on a dope front, so I don’t think they liked when they got sprayed with all the carbon dioxide. But in the same token, all those One Day Guy’s are absolute gentleman and I see them at the pub all the time.”

So it’s true, all your favourite Aussie bands are mates and they all get to hang out backstage and have awesome fun times with each other and get hosed down with fire extinguishers by pommy bands when they’re having too much fun.
