Melbourne rapper Illy recently dropped an expletive-laden new single titled ‘Swear Jar’, which is apt considering the emcee’s latest Facebook post. The rapper recently took to social media to unleash a tirade against the taxi industry.

Following a court ruling that effectively made popular ride-sharing service Uber “illegal” in the state of Victoria, Illy decided to share his outrage with his 215,000 Facebook fans and we don’t know about you, but we reckon he’s not a fan of taxis.

“Can we just take a moment to give a massive fuck you to the taxi industry in Melbourne for getting Uber outlawed,” the ARIA Award winner wrote, before arguing that the taxi industry’s complacence caused their own downfall.

“You fucking useless killjoys. Your poor service was the reason people got down with Uber in the first place, and rather than improve yourselves you take the easy option and resort to mob tactics and kill off the competition kicking your ass. Sore losers much?” he wrote.

“Just gonna put a fiver in my Swear Jar for that,” he added, “but fuck it, what assholes.” The post received a largely positive response from fans, amassing more than 5,000 likes and receiving many comments echoing the emcee’s sentiment.

As Tone Deaf previously reported, the Victorian court case that effectively confirmed that Uber had been operating illegally in the state involved former music manager Nathan Brenner, who was at one point the manager for Split Enz and Men At Work.

Brenner was found guilty of driving a hire car without a license or accreditation. Despite reports that the ruling means Uber is now “illegal” in Victoria, the company has insisted that it’s business as usual.

Can we just take a moment to give a massive fuck you to the taxi industry in Melbourne for getting Uber outlawed. You…
