Those who have only been following Donald Glover’s career passively up to this point may have been shocked at the twin punch of his amazing show ‘Atlanta’ and his beautiful, soul-drenched new album Awaken, My Love! The latter is out through his Childish Gambino moniker, and is devoid of any rapping, instead being an excursion into ’70 funk, with touches of Funkadelic, Prince, D’Angelo, and even Macy Gray along the way.

Last night he stopped into The Tonight Show where he performed album standout ‘Redbone’, a sultry sex-jam that will no doubt have been responsible for the conception of many children in the US last night.

Glover has also recently been hired to pla Lando Calrissian in an upcoming ‘Star Wars’ film, which will no doubt propel him to the A-list.

It’s been a long time coming.

Whether he is writing all of Tracey Jordan’s best jokes on the early seasons of ’30 Rock’, playing the adorably naive Troy Barnes on ‘Community’, being Lena Dunham’s Republican boyfriend on ‘Girls’, creating weird art-house films with Topanga from ‘Boy Meets World’, or freestyling like a man possessed on HOT 97, Donald Glover has shown us he can do it all.

Maybe he should be running for president in 2020?
