Sydneysiders, The City Lights, have just released their third album, I Just Got To Believe, the first release from the band in five years. The rock and roll trio have produced their best work to date, certainly pleasing their ever-growing and loyal fan base.
The album has elements that are reminiscent of 60s British rock and has the sounds of punk and grunge genres, and it all seems to mesh together perfectly to pack an almighty punch. The record is full of gutsy guitar riffs and high energy, sharp vocals that get right to the point.
The three member band consists of brothers, Harry Roden on bass, James Roden performing both on vocals and guitar, and Graeme Trewin on the drums. Through this album the boys definitely have made their presence felt on the Aussie rock scene, the only complaint would be that the album is not long enough.
But album highlights, like ‘Without People You’re Nothing’ with its barreling energy, ensures it sticks with you long after the disc stops spinning.
