Australian fans will finally have the chance to experience Jimi Hendrix’s unforgettable 1969 Woodstock concert on the big screen when Hendrix 70: Live from Woodstock rocks into cinemas on Wednesday 28 November to celebrate the guitar god’s 70th birthday.

This special edition theatrical presentation has been carefully reassembled from the extensive archive of footage helmed by Academy Award winning director Michael Wadleigh, under the auspices of Experience Hendrix, LLC, the Hendrix family owned company.

Hendrix 70: Live from Woodstock also reveals Hendrix’s fascinating road to the Woodstock festival by way of never-before-seen footage and interviews with band members Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell, engineer Eddie Kramer and Woodstock’s promoter Michael Lang.

Directed by Grammy Award winner Bob Smeaton (Beatles AnthologyBand Of GypsysFestival Express), the documentary, which precedes the performance footage, reveals the struggle to stage the legendary festival and secure Hendrix as its headline artist.

The film will be released across Australia by Omniverse Vision on Wednesday 28 November at select cinemas through Hoyts CinemasEvent CinemasGreater UnionPalace and Dendy.
