Kirin J Callinan
Embracism

Controversial guitar-abusing noisenik, Sydney’s Kirin J Callinan, has slowly been working his way towards his debut album Embracism. After having released the captivating music video for his equally inventive and engaging single ‘Way To War‘ and new track ‘Love Delay‘, Callinan is set to drop his first solo full-length this June.

Released through Siberia Records, in partnership with Terrible Records & XL Recordings, Embracism’s ten tracks are sure to be rife with Callinan’s unique brand of music-making. Experimental in concept but razor-sharp in focus, combined with a wealth of abstract soundscapes, cutting guitar parts, and enthralling lyricism.

The record is released just as Callinan heads out on a tour of the States, where he is already gaining considerable buzz from the blogosphere who are positively swooning his cult-like appeal and unconventional live shows.

Thriftstore Masterpiece
Trouble Is A Lonesome Town

Thriftstore Masterpiece is a revolving music collective devoted to paying homage to the underdog records of years past. Their debut album revisits Lee Hazlewood’s1963 lost classic Trouble Is A Lonesome Town.

In 1963,  Hazlewood released his debut album to little fanfare.  He had originally intended the songs as demos for his publisher, in hopes that other artists might someday record them. Half a century later, the music collective known as Thriftstore Masterpiece has done exactly that.

Through Thriftstore Masterpiece, Charles Normal has reimagined Trouble Is A Lonesome Town as a fully orchestrated affair and has enlisted a few of his talented friends to help out on vocal duties including Frank Black (Pixies), Isaac Brock (Modest Mouse), Courtney Taylor-Taylor (Dandy Warhols), Kristin Blix (Guards of Metropolis), the late Larry Norman, Eddie Argos (Art Brut) and Pete Yorn.

The Almost
Fear Inside Our Bones

Following 2009’s acclaimed release Monster, Monster, Florida natives The Almost ahave announced  the release of their third album.

Written over the course of one year and recorded live by Marshall Altman (Tom Morello, Ingrid Michaelson, William Fitzsimmons), The Almost bunkered down in a small room in Nashville’s Omni Studios for only five days and played every note of Fear Inside Our Bones together in unison.

The band made the decision to record the album in the same roomcompletely live, and the album was born in their collective blood, sweat, and tears.

Washed Out
Parocosm

The music recorded by Ernest Greene as Washed Out has been nothing if not dreamy, but for his second full-length, he’s taken the idea of letting your mind wander to another state a huge leap further. On Paracosm, the Georgia-based musician explores the album’s namesake phenomenon, where people create detailed imaginary worlds.

Listeners will be immediately struck by Paracosm’s seamless melding of organic and synthetic sounds, which are related to Washed Out’s past but also find Greene redefining his trademark dreaminess. The live drums, bass, and guitar were recorded at Maze Studios with producer Ben H. Allen (Animal Collective, Deerhunter, Gnarls Barkley), who also worked on Greene’s last album.

Despite the vintage instruments and Greene’s throwback tendencies, everything feels like it was made right here and now.

You can watch the album trailer here.
