It’s easy to fall into a limbo-like-state when melodies found throughout Yon Yonson’s Closer To The Sun drift and reoccur so seamlessly from ear to ear.
Effortless in their produced soundscape and overall feel, the duo are sitting back to enjoy the ride as others listen on with intrigued wonderment.
The EP’s self titled first track and is suited for weekends at the snow – drinking and messing around with those you know best. Never taking anything to close to the heart and letting the good times roll.
The emotional engagement is obvious and they let the music do all the talking which is a gift in itself.
Track two, “Homesick”, eases into a life form of its own – a mammoth of a creature who is slightly lost in the crazy world he finds himself in. Eager to break out of a shell; yet content with his being at the same time.
Based in Sydney, the two describe themselves as ‘pretty cool guys’.
Looking at the typeface on the reverse side of their three track EP, Closer To The Sun, one would be more inclined to describe them as ‘almost cool’.

But in all seriousness, the real disappointment is the fact there are only three songs.
A watchful eye will be placed upon Yon Yonson as they take their organic, experimental instrumentation out of the bedroom and onto the road in an effort to further shape Australian music on a larger scale.
