If the success of Melbourne prog-metal band Twelve Foot Ninja’s music video campaign, smashing the previous record set by Eskimo Joe in February this year, has taught us anything – it’s that crowdfunding is here to stay.
Whether it’s as simple as a band recording a new album, raising funds for musicians to head overseas to tour, or simply a great music-related initiative, the likes of Kickstarter, Pozible, Pledge, Zoshpit, and IndieGoGo are realising the previously lofty goals of artists the world over.
Help Fund Extreme Metal Documentary
Having already produced many episodes on different facets of the history and global appreciation of metal music, Metal Evolution – the biggest-ever series on the history of heavy metal and hard rock needs help to finish the production of the last episode, which focuses on extreme and hardcore metal.
Through the overwhelming support of the international metal community, the producers raised $40,000 which funded the research, writing, travel and filming phase of the Extreme Metal episode, making it possible for host/director Sam Dunn to hit the road and interview the genre’s most influential figures, including Tom G. Warrior and Martin Eric Ain (Hellhammer/Celtic Frost), Shane Embury (Napalm Death), Jeff Walker and Bill Steer (Carcass) and more.
Now, in order to cover the costs of post-production, rights acquisition and music licensing they need more help! Up for grabs should you pledge is a pre-order of the DVD, extended interviews, a metal family tree poster, and a metal goodie pack!

The New Dub FX
Australian-born and UK-based beat box artist, renowned street performer and YouTube sensation, Dub FX has launched a fan funding campaign to record, remix, release and tour his forthcoming album Theory Of Harmony. Dub FX AKA Ben Stanford will also create a music video for every song on the album.
After six years of travelling around Europe as a street performer, a video of Stanford went viral and since then he decided to put his talent on tape. His ultimate goals are to finish the album, perform it in cities around the world for free, and ultimately release an album of remixes.
Up for grabs for pledgers is an advanced copy of the album, your names printed in the liner notes, a private Skype show, backstage VIP passes, signed, equipment, and finally a private show in your house.

The Aussie boys have finished recording their second album, Devil And The Deep and like the good ol’ fashioned rockers they are, they want to release this latest LP on vinyl. But, as we know, it’s expensive, so in order to make 300 limited edition copies, they need some help from fans.

After leaving Universal Music, Matt Walters took off on a trip to rediscover his deep love of songwriting. Going the independent route this time around, Walters needs some help with the recording and mixing of the album to be.

Florida Death Metal behemoths Obituary are going back to the studio to record a brand new album, and they need your help. Well they needed your help but they actually funded this project within the first 24 hours!
However, every extra cent raised helps the death metallers keep making music so get to giving!
