“One of our favourite things to do was to close up all the doors late at night, put on the red lamps and trip out to our instruments with a few hookahs burning around the place. This is where much of the mansion catalogue was born such as ‘Pollen of the Hour’. I distinctly remember us trying to decode both The Flaming lips and Pink Floyd in one hit during the pollen session; 2 bands that carved our direction for this song. This song pretty much wrote itself with Jay’s raucous bassline and Paul’s sporadic big beat drums. The song was demoed and ready within the hour.
Stoked on the session I passed out sometime in the AM and woke a couple of hours later to see a silhouette in the corner of my room framed by the dawn of a grey/blue winter Wollongong morning. However you feel about ghosts and whether you think they’re bullshit, there was a spirit energy haunting my bedroom and the funny thing is that I only felt or saw the presence a small amount of times, one in which was after writing ‘Pollen of the Hour’.” – Rohin Brown
