The Calling All Cars Australian Tour 2013 has been announced, and falling on from the Melbourne rock trio offering a first taste of their new album in the visceral punch of ‘Raise The People’, now Calling All Cars are offering a powerful, sharp sonic left turn with the sex, swaggering new single ‘Werewolves’, and a new seven-date national tour.

‘Werewolves’ is the first official single lifted from the band’s as-yet untitled third studio album and bursts out of the gates into a brave new sonic landscape for the band – it grinds along perfectly with a hormone-driven guitar fuzz like a pack of lustful, hungry beasts, creeping around a cemetery at midnight.

Analogies aside, ‘Werewolves’ signals a change in the winds for Calling All Cars for their new album recorded in Melbourne with producers Steve Schram (Clairy Browne & the Bangin’ Rackettes, Eagle and The Worm, Little Birdy, The Vasco Era) and Tom Larkin (Shihad, Strangers, Young and Restless, Bodyjar, The Getaway Plan) and mixed by the Grammy Award-winning Tchad Blake (Pearl Jam, The Black Keys, Peter Gabriel).

Arriving off the back of their two previously released, and critically-acclaimed albums – 2010’s Hold, Hold, Fire and 2011’s Dancing With A Dead Man. Combined, they triggered a string of high rotation radio singles and AiR and APRA Award nominations, a Big Day Out tour, and support slots with everyone from Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age to AC/DC, Green Day, and Biffy Clyro.

This swiftly brings us right up to date to 2013, a year spent in the studio working on album number three and generally dropping hints of this exciting new direction and even the occasional song title. One song has already surfaced previously – the hard-hitting anthem ‘Raise The People’ was leaked via the band’s socials prior to fans only, while the band have been playing a series of secret shows around Melbourne under the name “Werewolves”.

With their third long player confirmed for an early 2014 release, if these first steps are anything to go by, it’s set to be another mammoth year ahead for Calling All Cars.

Joining them on the road for their upcoming dates will be indie punk trio from Canberra Super Best Friends, the makers of the recent viral hit starring Canberra’s political elite mucking about for the cameras, and Melbourne rockers The Sinking Teeth. Come and witness the all-new Calling All Cars live show!
