Not long ago, many were wondering if Eminem would ever return.

Now the 41-year-old has jumped back on the scene sporting his iconic bleached blonde hair and with a sequel to his arguably most popular album to date, The Marshall Mathers LP.

The reaction to the album has been mixed. Some think there is too much pop, while others aren’t enthused by the whole idea of creating a sequel album.

It seemed he knew what was coming. On ‘Bad Guy’, the first track on the record, Eminem claims, “I’m the bad guy who makes fun of people that die / And hey, here’s a sequel to my Mathers LP / Just to try to get people to buy / How’s this for publicity stunt? This should be fun.”

Despite the supposed negatives, the album sports plenty of positives.

The success of his four singles indicates that the rap star has truly come back in a big way, and the truth is – it’s good to hear Eminem’s distinct voice through stereo speakers again.

While he may not have the smoothest vocal chords – the use of a Yoda voice on ‘Rhyme Or Reason’ was a questionable decision – the strong passion is unmistakeable, and he draws such a clear connection to The Marshall Mathers LP that it makes you want to keep listening.

Continuing to poke fun at celebrities, including Khloe Kardashian and Tori Spelling, Eminem proves he hasn’t completely lost his comical and cheeky edge either.

Regardless of whether some may think The Marshall Mathers LP 2 sounds like a second round of Recovery, there’s no doubt that Eminem is back and dropping some serious lines and wordplay.
