Phil Spector has had a celebrity’s welcome to life in a California State Penitentiary, where some reports suggest that an inmate hit him and it felt like a kiss. According to a story in the New York Daily News, his mate Steven Escobar has said that “Phil has quite a mouth on him … Not everyone understands his humour. He said the wrong thing to the wrong inmate in the yard.” Apparently the 71 year old producer copped a black eye, a bruised nose and lost a few dental caps.
This has been denied by his 29 year old wife, former Playboy model Rachelle Spector. After initially confirming it, her publicist has rushed out another press release denying it, saying he had treatment for dental issues. Conveniently, Spector’s wife has her first album coming out in June, produced by her sugar daddy hubby which may or may not introduce a new recording style to Spector’s oeuvre, namely ‘Prison Walls of Sound’.
