Why You Should Care: Depicting a progressive look at what blues music will sound like in 300 years, this is a promising rollercoaster journey you won’t be able to get off of. After gracing Australian shores for 2014’s St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, the American punk ensemble will release their third studio album this coming winter. A record about hopelessness, fleeting with thoughts of freedom and having peace of mind, it was recorded amidst a hectic 2013 tour schedule which transposes into the lyrical themes of displacement, doubt and situational captivity.

Why You Should Care: Keeping their signature folk sound and enhancing it with the atmospheric dynamics of The Omaha Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish sister duo of Johanna and Klara Soderberg produce their lushest recording to date, requiring no further introduction. Recorded in ARC studios in Omaha, produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Monsters Of Folk) and arranged by Nate Walcott (Broken Bells, Rilo Kiley) they’ve created an ambitious and sophisticated collection of 10 songs blossoming with vivid story telling. Having been announced on the Bonnaroo line-up this coming June, the stage is sure to melt with tranquil delights.

Why You Should Care: Ever wanted to hear an epic metal cover of Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring Of Fire’? Well, the UK metal titans have announced their sixth studio album featuring guest appearances from Trivium’s Matt Heafy as well as the bands first ever cover song. A record of firsts for the quintet, opting to move away from recording themselves in association with Karl Groom and seeking the services of Jens Bogren from Orebro studios in Sweden. Inspired by a constant bombardment of information, tablets, laptops, and mobile phones there is no escaping the Maximum Overload of metal racquet from the Londen-ers. Announcing their 12th studio album, and first since 2009, founder McCulloch has written 10 anthems showcasing their undeniable hallmarks whilst expanding their sound, raising the English gents to another platform. Produced by Youth (Killing Joke, The Verve) it’s a worthy successor to Crocodiles.

Why You Should Care: Encapsulating the journey the band had while studying in Canberra, the now Brisbane residents are amped to announce their EP backed by an East Coast Tour. Entering Airlock studios in Brissy after travelling separately for 12 months, the country lads have exited with a collection of upbeat and uplifting stories that are undeniably fun and full of banter. Always packing a punch, the hard-hitting Canadian punk rockers are drawing in new fans with their open and diverse sound that is as controversial as ever.
