Barely two weeks after causing a storm of controversy and furious internet blogging with the first single from her third album, a new MIA track has been released to UK radio, and of course is now all over the net. In contrast to the gritty Born Free with its sampling of Suicide’s Ghost Rider, the new track, entitled XXXO sees her go as pop as she ever has and looks like it’ll be a club smash along the lines of Paper Planes. In news just to hand, she’s also released the album title – /\/\/\Y/\. Yep, it’s a fancy way of spelling her real name, Maya, geddit? It’ll also no doubt be causing sub-editors grief for the rest of the year.
