A Thy Art Is Murder Australian Tour 2014 has been announced with the Western Sydney’s sons of extremity making their homecoming before the year is out.
The four-piece will be slashing their way across Australia in December, following what has been a huge 18 months since their second full-length album Hate crashed into the ARIA Top 40, debuting at #35 in October 2012.
Building off an already strong fan-base worldwide, this kind of a debut charting was the first of its kind for a death metal band in Australia, one that is yet to be matched. International metal powerhouse Nuclear Blast Records took swift notice of their incredible achievement, and set Hate upon swarms of rabid metal heads worldwide last April.
Soon after, Thy Art Is Murder took their first steps into the overcrowded American and European territories, where Australian heavy music is still regarded as an oddity more worthy of restrained praise than wild adulation. One year on and they have carved into flesh their own Hate-shaped hole in the scene, causing Thy Art Is Murder to be one of the most highly sought after forces in extreme metal worldwide.
The extreme metal outfit have made celebrity fans out of a number of their musical peers: A Day To Remember rave about them to anyone in earshot, The Dillinger Escape Plan cannot get enough of them, appearances at festivals like Graspop Metal Meet in Belgium, Download in the UK, South By So What, Summer Slaughter and the prestigious New England Metalfest in North America are proof of this.
Off the festival stage, sold out shows the length and breadth of North America, Europe, the UK and Asia only serve to add credence to rumours of their intense live show.
After stoking controversy by (allegedly) starting a riot at the Brisbane leg of this year’s Soundwave Festival, touring with friends Northlane in May and kicking off an extensive US and European tour this week, Thy Art Is Murder have unveiled their largest Australian headline run to date.
