Eskimo Joe frontman Kav Temperley has announced a 10th Anniversary Tour to commemorate the band’s second album, A Song Is A City.
A decade on from the release of the 2004 record, Temperley will embark on an extensive 26-date national solo tour, performing selections from A Song Is A City in intimate acoustic mode.
“Ten years ago we wrote and released an album called A Song Is A City – it was turning point for myself both personally and musically. I love it how the whole album works on just an acoustic guitar, and there are so many stories that now, from a safe distance, I’m ready to tell,” says Temperley
“The whole album is really about me, my friends, the people I love, and Fremantle. It’s the stories that go on between us.” The Eskimo Joe singer-songwriter will also be sharing anecdotes each evening of the 10th Anniversary Tour – running from July to September.
A Song Is A City was the breakthrough album for the multiple ARIA Award winning Eskimo Joe, taking the Fremantle based band to the #2 position on the ARIA Album chart and reaching sales of more than double platinum.
In addition to performing the hit songs from the album that broke Eskimo Joe into wider recognition, such as ‘From The Sea’, ‘Smoke’, ‘Older Than You’ and ‘Life Is Better With You’, and discussing the stories that influence the music, Temperley will also play covers of some songs that influenced the album.
Fans who purchase tickets for the A Song Is A City celebration (on sale via Temperley’s own website from Thursday 19th June at 9a) will also get an EP upon arrival at the show, featuring a selection of cover songs the musician has recorded.
While Temperley will perform solo at most shows, he will be accompanied by talented multi instrumentalist Lee Jones in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Fremantle.
