The nominees for the APRA Music Awards were announced last night and reading the big block of type on the press release is hurting our brains down at Tone Deaf HQ. Some of the more interesting bits include The Temper Trap being nominated for APRA Song of the Year, for Sweet Disposition; for which Empire of The Sun also scored a gong for We Are The People. Unfathomably, Jet scored nominations for She’s A Genius in the Most Played Australian Work and Rock Work Of The Year categories for a song from their third album that bombed more than the second; while the Breakthrough Songwriter of The Year award is up for grabs between Jessica Mauboy, Lisa Mitchell, Daniel Merriweather, Empire Of The Sun and The Temper Trap. The awards will be handed out at an industry circle jerk/coke fest at Sydney Convention Centre on Monday 21st June.
