EMI Marketing & Promotions Coordinator

Another of music’s Big Three major labels, Universal Music Australia has created a new long-term contract position to join the Finance team at their new Sydney offices. “This position will see you managing a portfolio of interesting projects related to the improvement of financial workflows, reporting, systems and processes,” the listing notes, suiting a numbers wizard with “exceptional analytical and project management skills,” handling the books for Universal’s huge roster of artists from Sprinsteen to U2 and beyond. Strategy planning, project management, stakeholder engagement, operational efficiency, post analysis – if this ticks your career boxes, then this might well be the opening you’ve been waiting for.

Triple J Indigenous Marketing Assistant
Australia’s national youth network is looking for a highly organised and creative individual to “help grow and profile the triple j brand” on-air and online, across the flagship radio station, and Double J and Unearthed networks. Open to Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders with a passion and knowledge for music, a creative mind, and good marketing and promotions experience, this ongoing part-time role involves producing compelling marketing and promotions campaigns. As well as being a bit of a music nut, you’ll also need to be an organisation fanatic, working well under pressure and demonstrate top-rate communication skills in a dynamic working environment. Never mind that the ABC is a sensational place for Indigenous staff to work, this role provides a serious foot in the door of one of Australia’s most respected and vibrant music institutions.

Arts Centre Melbourne Publicist
If you’re already bigging up the great work of Melbourne’s cultural hub of arts and music venues – Hamer Hall, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, and the Theatres Building, then here’s the chance to get officially paid to do it for a living. A full-time position in the Arts Centre Melbourne’s Marketing & Media Business Unit is currently open, seeking a “highly motivated individual to support and generate media communications both internally and externally.” The fine print requires a tertiary degree in communications, public relations, or related field, as well as experience in the arts industry and media exposure – but otherwise it’s going to be all about celebrating and disseminating the great experiences and events the Arts Centre offers.

Imagine handling the accounts for one of the music world’s ‘Big Three’ record labels across digital download and streaming services? No need to wonder, that’s exactly the position on offer from the East Sydney offices of Sony Music Australia. If you’re a tech-savvy, net knowledgable music lover with some account management or retail experience, this is a pretty great opportunity. As well as working with the vast catalogue of Sony Music artists and releases on digital services, the prospective job-holder will also work with management for recommendations on digital sales and streams reports and analysis. There’s also a lot of crossover with marketing, promotions and publicity divisions and working with Sony Music subscribers across multiple platforms.

Redeye Marketing & Sales Territorial Representative – Aus
Self-described “champions of independent music”, Redeye has nearly 20 years distributing music physically and digitally from a larger roster of artists to the fans and media of the world. Now the internationally based company is looking for a territorial project manager to oversee projects in Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. Responsibilities include meeting goals and sales for physical shipping and digital and streaming distribution, maintaining existing and developing new relationships with sub-distributors and other partners, as well as generating and implementing marketing plans. An inside knowledge of the music consumer in different territories is what’s really going to stand out here, knowing where, when, and how people are getting their music fix, as well as working closely with press, radio, online, and TV contacts and the artists themselves. An immersive and challenging role but an endlessly fascinating one too in the current industry landscape.

Esteemed Australian music bookers, The Harbour Agency, handles some of the cream of the Australian crop – from Adalita to You Am I – and now the Sydney office requires the services of “an office all rounder” to join the burgeoning team. “Applicants should be able to perform a wide variety of duties in the running of a busy office. You will work in a team environment and need to be computer literate,” the listing emphasises. “Experience within the industry and MYOB is preferred but not essential.
