With the first day of summer comes some great news for live music lovers in Sydney, introducing Future Classic and Museum Of Contemporary Art’s 2015 Summer Series of super rad music.
Future Classic and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) in Sydney are excited to announce a series of parties over Sunday arvos across the summer of 2015. Known as FCxMCA for short, these guys will host some of the most exciting international and local electronic talent on the Sculpture Terrace overlooking the sparkling harbour at Circular Quay. These intimate 300-capacity events will sell out.
Norwegian producer Cashmere Cat kicks off the series in appropriate fashion after playing New York’s Museum of Modern Art PS1 Warm Up party. With releases on Lucky Me, Pelican Fly and Future Classic and productions for Miguel, Jeremiah and Ariana Grande his genre-defining music sets the bar for his contemporary counterparts – embracing his true love of gritty R&B, hyper fast drum patterns and slow jams.
Not one to shy away from Playing With Fire, Redinho has managed to make the synth and talkbox an identifiable element of his sound that brings P-Funk and G-Funk bang up to date. The London based producer, songwriter and vocalist released one of 2014’s most critically acclaimed albums on the electronic scene via the brilliant Numbers label. After playing iconic events such as Barcelona’s Sonar festival this show marks his Australian debut.
Cyril Hahn is the man who somehow managed to make Beyoncé (Destiny’s Child) sexier. With over 6 million plays of his Say My Name remix and a string of svelte, deeper-than-deep house originals, he provides the perfect soundtrack for the motion picture that is the closing party of this phenomenal series. Cyril Hahn’s Perfect Form embodies all that is sexy about summer.
On the collaboration between Future Classic and Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Nathan McLay of Future Classic says, “My partner Jay and I have always enjoyed visits to documenta in Germany, the Venice Biennale and many contemporary galleries around the world on our travels. That travel and intersection of contemporary art and music opened our eyes to collaborations such as the MoMa PS1 Warm Up series in New York and the Sonar festival in Barcelona, whose day venue is the Museum of Contemporary Art Barcelona (MACBA). It is these events that inspired the FCxMCA collaboration.”
For those lucky enough to be in Sydney over summer, there’s simply no where else you can be on these dates.
