Whilst The Killers are about as edgy as soft tofu, they are clearly not concerned with increasing their rock credibility, as Obama’s invitation for the band to play the 4th of July concert to honour US troops at the White House will not do anything for that. However it does serve as a good opportunity to silence break-up rumours, since the band are currently on hiatus, with Brendan Flowers ready to release his first solo album ‘Flamingo’ in the coming months. The performance will be streamed on the White House’s website (www.whitehouse.gov). “We could never repay the service men and women of this country for their contributions and sacrifice. To perform for them and their families on America’s birthday will be our pleasure.” Flowers stated. At least his Dad will be proud of him.
