This week has already seen some mega brand new tunes released, with King Kendrick Lamar dropping his epic new track, not to mention homegrown rising star Tkay Maidza releasing another banger, as well as local house house duo Ara Koufax’s steamy new beat, and today, we’ve got four more songs from some major artists that wrap your ears around.
Florence & The Machine
First up to the plate is the bellowing UK songstress, Florence & The Machine, who has released the first teaser from what we hope to be their forthcoming record that has been rumoured to come out some time this year.
The track has been released as a video, and is entitled ‘How Big How Beautiful How Blue’. The mystical track sees Florence Welsh’s howling voice harmonise with soaring brass, her vocals melting into one with the triumphant horned arrangement. Admittedly, this track has a very introduction to an album feel about it, however if this is what will greet listeners at the beginning of the record, it’s obvious we’re in for something incredible.
Hot Chip
It must be a special day for the Brits, with the innovative masters of the electro-meets-band schtick announcing their brand-spanking new record Why Make Sense which will hit shelves May 15, not to mention a fresh tune from the release, ‘Huarache Lights’.
The track sees the five-piece up to their own tricks, adding both dance and rock elements together to create a beat you can shake your ass or bang your head to. We smell a hint of French-dance influences, with robotic Daft Punk vocals as well as very Air-inspired keys.
Alabama Shakes
Oh boy did our eyes light up when we heard the smokey first growl in the opening lines of this badass burning tune.
The garage/blues/roots four-piece of Alabama have shared their ‘Don’t Wanna Fight’, a new single from their forthcoming record Sound & Color which sees the band take-off from where they last left, producing a rumbling palm-muted throw that vocally erupts in a frustrated “I don’t wanna no more“.
Sound & Color is out 17th April and you can catch these guys at Bluesfest, however for now, we suggest you dig the scorching tune below.
Madeon (Ft. Passion Pit)
There’s nothing quite like the warm, uplifting sounds of French producers, and youngster Madeon is a perfect example of this.
Only just releasing the tune ‘Pay No Mind’, the track pertains to the typical sounds of France, laden with a funk beat, cruising high toned vocals and the most distinguishable element of all, the the twinkling, feel-good synth progressions. In addition to this, Madeon has enlisted the guys of Passion Pit to give the track that extra bit of spice.
We’re calling this one as a definite repeat button masher.
