For those initiated, Tam Vantage is one of Australia’s most criminally underrated songwriters. Vantage, aka Tam Matlakowski is the one time lead singer of guitar pop band Pop Singles (who in 2012 released All Gone, one of the year’s best local records) and former member of Chapter Music alumni The Stevens.
These days however he’s focussing on his latest solo project; Tam Vantage. With a band in tow, the Melbourne based songwriter is set to independently release his stunning brand new EP titled Setting Sun. Mastered by William Bowden (Gotye, The Church, The Basics) the EP is six tracks of lush, carefully crafted melodic pop songs that fans of Vantage’s previous efforts can definitely find solace in.
Vantage spent a good part of last year in the studio with Simon Grounds (Teeth and Tongue, Bushwalking, Laura Jean, Birdblobs, God) from which came the single ‘The Boy Who Always Wins‘ we can’t wait to see what else is to come in 2015 form this local guitar pop master.
To celebrate the release of the EP, Vantage will be playing at The evelyn on Saturday February the 28th, with support from White Walls, Bad Family, and Leah Senior – for more info check out the Facebook event.
